The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested nine suspects in connection with an alleged robbery and murder incident at Fiapre-Zongo, a suburb of the Sunyani Municipality in the Bono Region.
According to a press release issued by the Bono Regional Police Command on August 6, 2026, the incident occurred on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at about 8:00 p.m., when police received a distress call about an ongoing robbery at Fiapre.
Police personnel quickly responded to the scene, but the alleged attackers had already fled. The attack was reportedly targeted at a mobile money vendor, Amina Abu, aged 30.
💰 GH¢30,000 ALLEGEDLY STOLEN
Preliminary investigations indicate that Amina Abu was attacked and robbed of GH¢30,000 in cash.
During the incident, several people were reportedly struck by pellets from gunshots. The victims identified by the police include:
- Amina Abu, 30, a mobile money vendor
- Khadija Abu, 23
- Anifa Tanko, 24
- Ibrahim Osei, 40
Police also discovered an unidentified man wearing or found with a black mask lying behind Ibrahim Osei’s house. He had sustained severe injuries.
All five injured persons were initially rushed to the Regional Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
🔫 TWO PEOPLE DIE
The Police Command disclosed that Ibrahim Osei was shot when he came out of his room while the suspects were fleeing. He subsequently died while being transported to the hospital.
The unidentified man found with the black mask also died while receiving treatment.
Police recovered six spent BB cartridges from the scene. The cartridges have been retained as exhibits and are expected to undergo forensic examination as part of the investigation.
đźš” NINE SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Further investigations reportedly revealed that the alleged suspects got off a cattle truck heading towards Berekum before carrying out the robbery.
Following this lead, the Twumasikrom checkpoint was alerted to intercept two vehicles transporting cattle.
The police subsequently arrested nine suspects, who are currently assisting investigators in establishing the circumstances surrounding the robbery and deaths.
The suspects are expected to be processed for prosecution once investigations are completed.
The Bono Regional Police Command has also assured the public that efforts are continuing to identify and arrest other alleged perpetrators who remain at large.
The Police Command says those arrested and any other persons found to have been involved will be made to face the full rigours of the law.
