The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the National Signals Bureau (NSB), has arrested two suspects over separate videos containing alleged inciteful and offensive comments concerning Prophet Mohammed.

The first suspect, 35-year-old Masud Abdullah, an Imam, was arrested in connection with a video in which he allegedly made statements advocating violence against persons who speak negatively or disrespectfully about Prophet Mohammed.

According to information available to the Police, the statements were allegedly made while Masud Abdullah was delivering a sermon at a mosque in Ntensere, in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.

In a related development, the Police Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team has also arrested Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei, alias Apostle Daniel JY Adjei, after he was allegedly captured in a video making derogatory and offensive comments about Prophet Mohammed.

🔎 The Police say investigations into both cases are ongoing, and the two suspects will be taken through the due process of the law.

The Ghana Police Service has further reminded the public—including religious leaders, preachers, community leaders, and social media commentators—that freedom of religion and freedom of expression must not be used as justification for inciting violence or encouraging people to harm others.

The Police warned that inciteful utterances that encourage violence may constitute offences, and persons found responsible will be arrested and made to face the full rigours of the law.
