Fresh controversy has emerged over the funeral arrangements for the late Apostle Prof. Kwadwo Safo following reports that Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo has begun mounting canopies at Gomoa Mpota and has shown the house said to have been prepared as the final resting place of the late religious leader and industrialist.
The reported preparations come despite a 10-day interim injunction granted by the Accra High Court, which temporarily restrains the execution of the planned funeral and burial arrangements.
The burial had reportedly been scheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2026, but the court order suspended the ceremony following a family dispute concerning the late Apostle’s purported will, funeral arrangements and the authority of those involved in organising his final rites.
Videos and images circulating online reportedly show canopies being erected at Gomoa Mpota, while a building said to be the intended burial place of Apostle Kwadwo Safo has also been displayed. The development has generated widespread debate on social media, with some members of the public questioning whether the ongoing preparations are consistent with the High Court’s directive.
Others have argued that the erection of canopies and preparation of the burial site may not necessarily amount to the actual execution of the funeral. However, the precise scope of the injunction and whether the reported activities breach the order would ultimately be a matter for the court to determine.
The interim injunction is intended to preserve the existing situation while the court considers the dispute among the interested parties. It does not constitute a final judgment on who has the legal authority to organise the funeral, administer the estate or determine the burial arrangements.
All parties affected by the order are expected to comply with the court’s directive until the injunction expires, is varied or is set aside. Any allegation of disobedience would have to be formally brought before the court and established through the appropriate legal process.
