Accra High Court Suspends Planned Funeral of Apostle Prof. Kwadwo Safo Following Family Dispute

The Accra High Court has granted a 10-day interim injunction restraining the implementation of funeral arrangements reportedly initiated by Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo for the late Apostle Prof. Kwadwo Safo.

The court order has consequently halted the burial ceremony that was scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

The injunction follows a legal action arising from an ongoing family dispute concerning the late industrialist’s purported will, the administration of his estate and the organisation of his final funeral rites. The applicants are understood to have approached the court seeking temporary relief to prevent the funeral from proceeding until the disagreements among the interested parties are properly addressed.

By granting the interim injunction, the court has directed that no steps should be taken to carry out the scheduled burial or related funeral activities during the 10-day period, unless the order is varied or set aside by the court.

The decision is intended to preserve the situation and prevent any action that could undermine the rights or interests of the parties before the substantive issues are heard and determined.

As a result, family members, funeral organisers and all other persons connected to the planned ceremony are expected to comply fully with the court’s directive.

The dispute is now formally before the court, where the parties will have the opportunity to present their respective positions regarding the will, funeral arrangements and other related matters.

Until the court provides further directions or the parties reach an acceptable resolution, the burial of Apostle Prof. Kwadwo Safo remains suspended. No new funeral or burial date is expected to be announced at this stage.

The interim injunction does not represent a final determination of the dispute. It is a temporary order meant to maintain the status quo while the court considers the issues raised by the parties.
